Personal Bio or Company Description:

Peter worked in the New Jersey State Police Office of Emergency Management for more than 17 years.  During that time, he worked in Nuclear Attack / Civil Defense Planning, Nuclear Power Plant Planning and Hazardous Materials Planning.  For the last nine years of his tenure there, he managed the Operational Planning Bureau and was responsible for management of the State’s Emergency Operations Center, preparation of the State’s emergency plans and the planning guidance used by local government, review and approval of all local government plans and management of the State’s cooperative agreement and disaster assistance programs with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Peter joined Merrill Lynch in 1998 and was tasked to develop the Firm’s Crisis Management program.  He designed and co-managed the Command Information Center for Y2K and developed the global exercises to test the company’s Y2K management structure.  Peter authored the first evacuation plan for the World Financial Center, the corporate Crisis Management Plan and the Executive Evacuation and Recovery Plan.  He managed the global rollout of the Dialogic emergency notification system and the Firm’s participation in the financial services industry-wide connectivity tests.  Peter led the scenario development and served on the Steering Committee for the FBIIC – FSSCC Pandemic Exercise in 2007.

Peter’s current responsibilities include external liaison with the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association’s Business Continuity Committee, regulatory liaison on business continuity issues, development of a program to monitor the business continuity capability of critical vendors, management of the planning for a possible avian flu pandemic and coordination of Merrill Lynch’s Business Continuity Management Taskforce.  He currently serves as Chair of the SIFMA Industry Testing Committee.
