Today the Contingency planning Exchange (CPE) is the largest independent group of disaster recovery and business continuity planners in the world. The CPE, although based in the New York City area has members worldwide. During recent years, the CPE has established partnerships and coordinated efforts with FEMA, The Federal Emergency Management Office, OEM, The New York City Office of Emergency Management, SEMA, New York State Emergency Management.

New York City Office of Emergency Management (OEM) works to mitigate, and plan and prepare for emergencies; educate the public about preparedness; coordinate emergency response and recovery efforts; collect and disseminate critical information; and seek funding opportunities to support of the overall preparedness of the City of New York.

The New York State Emergency Management Office (SEMO) is responsible for coordinating all activities necessary to protect New York's communities from natural, technological and manmade disasters and other emergencies that threaten the State. NYSEMO coordinates Emergency Management Services for the State by providing leadership, planning, education and resources to protect lives, property and the environment.

Norwich University’s Master of Science in Business Continuity Management online is the first master’s degree in the United States focused solely on business continuity. The program provides a comprehensive, in-depth, and practical understanding of all aspects of business continuity management. The topics include plan development, emergency response, crisis management and communications, risk management, organizational resiliency, IT continuity, testing, implementation, and regulatory issues.
